KAWS – Holiday Shanghai Black
Holiday Shanghai Black is een gelimiteerde vinyl sculptuur van KAWS, uitgebracht ter gelegenheid van de KAWS Holiday Shanghai-installatie in 2024. Het iconische Companion-figuur ligt ontspannen op zijn rug terwijl hij een maan op zijn borst draagt een krachtig beeld dat rust, introspectie en verbondenheid met het universum symboliseert. De sculptuur is geïnspireerd op de monumentale opblaasbare installatie die tijdens de expositie de skyline van Shanghai domineerde.
De zwarte uitvoering legt extra nadruk op de kenmerkende silhouetten en vormen van Companion. De contrasterende fluorescerende maan, die oplicht in het donker, voegt een subtiel interactief element toe en verwijst naar het Midherfstfestival, waarbij de volle maan centraal staat.
